Standards: how BBN handles the news

BBN is a parody news network. The headlines are real and every story is credited and linked to the outlet that reported it. The anchors are fictional cartoon characters, and what they say is comedy written by AI. BBN is not a news organization and does no reporting of its own.

Where the facts come from

  • Every story starts from a real, published report by a news outlet: more than 130 of them, across the political spectrum.
  • Each story page names that outlet and links to the original report under “The real story”, and lists it first under “At a glance”. The headline and the facts belong to that outlet.
  • The one-sentence summary under a headline restates the reported facts; it adds no claims of its own.
  • Photos are from Wikimedia Commons and are always shown with their credit and license.

What is satire

  • Everything the anchors say on air (“What BBN said about it” on a story page) is comedy: jokes, exaggeration and opinion written for fictional characters. It is not reporting and should not be quoted as fact.
  • The anchors (Hank Ledger, Vera Bullock, Dale Bearman and the rest) are not real people. Their names, faces and biographies are invented.
  • Every product in BBN's commercials is fictional, and every phone number is a 555 number.

How AI is used

An AI model writes each segment moments before it airs, from the real report; AI voices read it; the broadcast is drawn in real time. AI can get details wrong. The linked original reporting is the source of truth, so check it before you believe or share anything.

Ethics

  • BBN credits every outlet it draws on and links to the original, so readers can always go to the source.
  • BBN covers outlets from the left, the right and the middle, and makes fun of everyone.
  • BBN is not affiliated with any outlet, company or person it mentions, and nothing on BBN is legal, medical or financial advice.
  • Story pages stay up for good, at the same address, so links to them keep working.

Corrections

If an outlet corrects or updates its report, the outlet's page is the correct version: follow the link on the story page. If BBN credits the wrong outlet, links to the wrong report, or shows a photo with a wrong credit, email us at team@bbn.live and we will fix the page.
