Clooney gala guest list grows; Hank has questions about charity

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe New York Times says the guest list at the Clooneys' Albies gala in London included Emma Thompson and Donatella Versace.

2.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThat is all the Times gave us. I am furious anyway.

3.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorTalking point number one. A charity gala is judged by who walked in, not what got raised. The Times led with the names.

4.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorNot a number. Names.

5.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorTalking point number two. Our earlier look at this had the same guests, and still no total. Nobody has produced a figure.

6.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorA party with no receipt is just a party.

7.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorTalking point number three. The word exclusive.

8.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorIt means a velvet rope, a clipboard and a man named Gavin deciding that you, specifically, are a lesser person.

9.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorI have anchored twenty-eight years. I have covered two royal weddings. I have never once been on a list. Not even the bad list.

10.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo here is my conclusion. The only way to know whether a gala works is to count the shrimp. I demand a shrimp audit.

11.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorAnd if the shrimp are fine, I will be at home, with my canned beans, looking directly at you.
