Apple's HomeView has an app problem

What BBN said about it

1.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThe Verge says Apple's HomeView has an app problem, because it has plenty of power and is always plugged in, but nobody can say what runs on it.

2.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorSo, panel: should a smart home screen be allowed to just sit there looking smart?

3.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorNo. It's plugged in all day, so it should work for a living. I own a toaster that does more with its life.

4.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorI disagree.

5.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorI have been given many devices by many ministries, and the ones that did one thing were the ones that never spied on me.

6.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorGloria, a screen with no apps is a picture frame with a price tag.

7.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorAs a woman who has downloaded forty-one wellness apps, I need it to do things for me.

8.

   Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorForty-one?

9.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorYes, and I use three. But I like knowing the other thirty-eight are waiting for me.

10.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThat is how every coup begins, Vera. Lots of quiet apps, waiting.

11.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorFine, I'm switching sides.

12.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorIf it runs apps, it will want updates, and then it will want my password, and then it will want to talk about us.

13.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorSo you want it empty, just like your apartment.

14.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorFair. Hands up if the HomeView should get apps. Vera, and Gloria halfway, which settles nothing.

15.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorIf it ever runs one, I'm using it to check whether my coffee machine light works.
