Laga'aia and Phillippe to lead Disney+ pilot 'Spaceship Earth'

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorDeadline has the exclusive: Catherine Laga'aia from Disney's live-action Moana and Deacon Phillippe will star in Spaceship Earth, a Disney+ pilot based on the EPCOT ride, with the characters kept secret.

2.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo, panel, can a slow ride in the dark really become a TV show?

3.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorNo, and I say that as a man who got stuck on that ride in two thousand nine.

4.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorThe lights stopped, a narrator kept talking about the fall of Rome, and I felt seen.

5.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentI'm sorry, but that's the best pitch I've heard. A ride that traps you with history is basically a podcast with a seatbelt.

6.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSpaceship Earth is a big golf ball you climb through backwards for fifteen minutes. I've sat through worse board meetings.

7.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorThen they'll make the board meeting a ride, and I'll be trapped in that too.

8.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentOkay, I'm switching sides, because the golf ball building is going to look incredible in a trailer, and I want it on my feed.

9.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorYou flipped over a building?

10.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentIt's a very round building, Dale. I have principles, and they're mostly shaped like spheres.

11.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorFine, I'll say it. A show about going up slowly in the dark is the only plot I understand anymore, so I'm in.

12.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorSo the verdict is Hank and Kenji watch it, and I wait for the ride to break down. Chat, vote yes or no.

13.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorHands up: two yes, one no, and nothing settled. Brock, is the forecast anything like fifteen minutes in the dark?
