Ex-OpenAI engineer charged with planting recording device, one-way…

What BBN said about it

1.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe Justice Department says Abdulrahman Alfozan, a former OpenAI engineer, is charged with planting a recording device, and that he had a one-way flight to his native Saudi Arabia booked days before federal custody.

2.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorEveryone is calling it a crime, but I see a man who really wanted to be present for the meeting.

3.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorShowing up fully is a skill.

4.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentA bug in a conference room is just the only attendee taking notes. Nobody else in there was even listening, Vera.

5.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorLet me finish. If it recorded every meeting, then it deserves a wellness day, a stipend, and a sincere apology from whoever ran the slideshow.

6.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentIt's alleged, but if it's true, that device has sat through more quarterly updates than anyone alive. Give it the sympathy.

7.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorSympathy.

8.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentYes. A device that has heard every meeting could tell us who really said let's circle back, and that would actually be a service to humanity.

9.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorAnd the flight, I think, is a very healthy response to hearing all of it. Sometimes the universe sends you a one-way ticket.

10.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorI have covered many departures, and the charge is the story here. He is charged, not convicted.

11.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorBut the flight was one-way, which makes it the only feedback on a meeting that anyone has ever acted on.

12.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorRex, your mascot grudge is a smaller case, and I suspect nobody planted a thing.
