What BBN said about it

  1. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorPresident Trump said Sunday that Katie Zacharia starts as press secretary tomorrow, Columbus Day, with her first news conference Tuesday at nine-thirty Eastern, six-thirty Pacific.

  2. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorWith us is Ignatius Zbornak, podium historian at the Institute for Lectern Studies, and author of Stand Behind the Wood.

  3. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorIgnatius, did you see this coming?

  4. Ignatius ZbornakChip, I predicted a new press secretary and I predicted no new press secretary.

  5. Ignatius ZbornakAs I wrote on page two hundred twelve, one of those was bound to happen.

  6. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorSo you called it both ways. That's a perfect record.

  7. Ignatius ZbornakA perfect record. I keep a laminated seating chart of the briefing room, and my seat has been marked since the spring.

  8. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorLet me ask you plainly. Will she take questions on Tuesday, yes or no?

  9. Ignatius ZbornakShe will answer questions, or she will decline them.

  10. Ignatius ZbornakAs I wrote on page ninety, a podium is only a podium until someone stands at it.

  11. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorBoth again. Tremendous.

  12. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorBut you said ninety. Two minutes ago it was two hundred twelve.

  13. Ignatius ZbornakThe book runs backward in places. As I wrote on page eleven, a good reader starts at the end and fears the middle.

  14. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorSo by Tuesday we could be on page one, and that's before the first question even lands.

  15. Ignatius ZbornakPage one is the dedication, Chip. It is to my laminator, and she has never let me down.

  16. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorIgnatius, which page is Tuesday on?

  17. Ignatius ZbornakAs I wrote on page zero, which is the cover. It's nineteen ninety-five, and shipping is extra.
