Delegates walk out as Israeli president addresses summit

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorDelegates from more than ten countries walked out this morning as Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed a summit in Baku. Skip Waverly is there.

2.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentHank, I'm standing just outside the main hall in Baku, and behind me the doors keep swinging as officials from more than ten countries file out during the address.

3.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentRight now the hall is noticeably emptier than it was a few minutes ago, and the walkout happened while President Herzog was still speaking.

4.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorDo we know why they left, or what the delegations said?

5.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentNot yet, Hank. The reporting so far is that they walked out, and nobody has given a full explanation.

6.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentAnalysts see it as a sign of deep diplomatic friction.

7.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentI will say, from where I stand, I may now be the largest delegation still in the room, and I think that shows leadership.

8.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorYou stayed for the speech.

9.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentFront row, Hank. Great seat, and nobody is blocking my view.

10.

Skip Waverly · Field CorrespondentA person in that seat could be ready for a bigger chair, say a desk.

11.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThank you, Skip. Stay with the story, and I assume the delegations will be back for lunch.
