Netflix, Facing Slowing Growth, Cuts 6% of Its Work Force

What BBN said about it

1.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThe New York Times says Netflix is cutting six percent of its work force, with its share price down more than forty percent over the last year as engagement stalls.

2.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorNina, you're up, and the thermometer is warm.

3.

Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentEngagement stalled because the are-you-still-watching box is the only honest employee. It sees you asleep on the couch with soup, and it tells the truth.

4.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorHOT. A box that judges you at two a.m. deserves a raise.

5.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentMy take: the real layoff is the skip intro button. Nobody has watched an opening credit since twenty-nineteen, so those people were working for nobody.

6.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorCredits are art, Kenji. But NOT. Nobody lost a job over a button.

7.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentThe button has never once been late.

8.

Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentKenji, a button can't be fired, which is why it's winning.

9.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorFinal take, the hottest: this is my fault. I finished one season in a single Sunday, and the box asked if I was okay.

10.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorI said no.
