What BBN said about it

  1. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorNine in ten Americans are eating ultra-processed food without realizing it, according to a survey of two thousand people, the New York Post reports.

  2. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThey guessed sixteen percent of their diet. The CDC number is about fifty-three.

  3. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorOnly nine percent could name which foods count, and half called pasteurized milk processed.

  4. Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorFour in ten thought rolled oats were processed. Rolled oats.

  5. Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorI'm giving this survey a six, with notes of damp cardboard and a lingering sense that nobody can read a label.

  6. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSeven. The survey was done for Amy's Kitchen, a food company, so there's a mild aftertaste of someone selling you a solution.

  7. Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorA seven? Hank, forty-two percent called sliced bread ultra-processed and you're handing out sevens. This is how judging scandals start.

  8. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSeven stands.

  9. Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorFine.

  10. Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorMy lunch was a protein bar in a car park, which I'm told is secretly heavily processed. I thought it was the healthy one.

  11. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorCereal. Dry. Out of the box, standing at the sink, and I wasn't even hungry.

  12. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorChat, what did you eat for lunch, and would you say it was ultra-processed? Be honest. The cereal already knows.
