The problem with the Islanders’ line setup — and how it could turn…

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe New York Post has a report on the Islanders' line setup, and the short version is that they have questions at the top and strength at the bottom.

2.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorI love that.

3.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThe Post says the Islanders have the pieces for an excellent bottom six, which is a team that found its strength in the basement and decided to grow from there.

4.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe catch is that the depth can't be deployed properly without top-of-the-lineup scoring, according to the report.

5.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo the good players are waiting on players who haven't been established.

6.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorWaiting is just growth with its coat on.

7.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorIt's a stocked pantry where nobody's allowed to cook.

8.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThen the pantry is the main character, Hank.

9.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThe headline even says this could turn to their advantage, so maybe the whole team just needs to believe in its lower floors.

10.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe Post doesn't say the team should move into the basement.

11.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorNot yet. I'm just saying a team with an excellent bottom has a very strong foundation.

12.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorA foundation with no stairs.

13.

    Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThen I'll bring a ladder and a candle.
