Black Nights Stars names 10 up-and-comers in Tallinn

What BBN said about it

1.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival has selected ten actors from the Baltic Sea and Nordic regions for its Black Nights Stars initiative, Screen Daily says.

2.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorMore than two hundred actors applied through a casting platform called etalenta. Your reaction?

3. CL

Casimir LofthouseWonderful. Competition keeps everyone sharp. Though I was approached, personally, through a very exclusive web form.

4.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA form you were approached through.

5. CL

Casimir LofthouseYes. It approached me. The tab was just open.

6.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe ten will be presented in Tallinn from November sixteenth to twenty-first, and Iceland and Norway are represented for the first time.

7.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorSo, what are you working on at the moment?

8. CL

Casimir LofthouseIt's a ninety-minute drama called Quiet Inbox. I play a man waiting for a reply. It's all in the eyes.

9.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorIs there dialogue?

10. CL

Casimir LofthouseOne line. 'Have you had a chance to look at my submission.' I cried on take four.

11.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorLet me ask you directly. Are you one of the ten selected actors?

12. CL

Casimir LofthouseI'm one of the two hundred and something. Which, statistically, is also a spotlight. Ask the jury, they have my headshot.

13.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorSo is that a no?

14. CL

Casimir LofthouseIt's a no. I got an email. I keep it flat so it doesn't crease.

15. CL

Casimir LofthouseIt says 'Application Received', and I read it at night.

16.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe selection jury included casting directors and talent agents. Did anyone there read your file?

17. CL

Casimir LofthouseSomeone opened it. I got a read receipt. That's the closest I've come to a standing ovation.

18.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorLightning round. Favorite film?

19. CL

Casimir LofthouseThe Fencer. The lead was thirteen. I'm not bitter, I'm just doing the math.

20.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorBest advice you ever got?

21. CL

Casimir LofthouseAlways attach a reel. And never refresh your inbox in front of your mother.

22.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorLast plug. And in fairness, the ten actors will each receive an award for being selected. Where can people find you?

23. CL

Casimir LofthouseQuiet Inbox, coming soon, pending review. And to the festival: I was approached. I have the receipt, and it says Application Received.
