What BBN said about it

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorWelcome back. Federal forecasters released their winter outlook this afternoon, and it predicts wetter-than-usual conditions in some states that have been stuck in long-running drought.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentThe National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is the source, and it is a seasonal outlook, not a promise.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentIt says conditions lean wetter, which is different from a drought ending.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorFor you at home, that could mean fuller reservoirs and a little less worry about the water supply.
Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorLeaning wetter. That's the weather's way of saying it'll text you back.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentDry soil also sheds heavy rain badly, so a wet winter can bring flooding before it brings relief.
Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorSo the cure for the drought is a flood. I love it when the sky overcorrects.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe forecast will not overcorrect on its own.
