Hackers override temperatures in French supermarket fridges

What BBN said about it

1.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorHackers remotely overrode the digital thermostats in hundreds of French supermarket cold aisles shortly before midnight on a Sunday, and food began cooking in the freezers, The Guardian reports.

2.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentThey called it bizarre and unprecedented, and it left a mountain of waste.

3.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentNobody knows if it was kids showing off or a state doing sabotage.

4.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorWhich is why we should stay open-minded. A supermarket that cooks its own food is just a restaurant with ambition.

5.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentA mountain of waste, though. Imagine being a teenager and your big flex is a warm brie.

6.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorDon't laugh at it, Kenji. Someone out there is very proud of that brie.

7.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentA state, though?

8.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThat is one possibility. Picture a whole government meeting about how to make the yogurt feel uncomfortable.

9.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentOkay, I'll be honest. The only thing I've ever hacked is a free trial, and I've done it eleven times.

10.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorAnd that is exactly why you're still broke.
