Blackburn responds to backlash over viral AI video featuring…

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSenator Marsha Blackburn is responding to backlash over a viral AI-generated video that used Kendrick Lamar's music, and joining us is Marcus Teague, inmate and library aide at a minimum-security prison.

2.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo, Marcus, what is the first rule of putting somebody's music in your video?

3. MT

Marcus TeagueYou ask the artist first, Hank.

4. MT

Marcus TeagueI learned that the long way, and for the record, which is sealed, it involved a cassette deck in a church basement.

5.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorA church basement.

6. MT

Marcus TeagueThree hundred and twelve tapes, Hank, and every one of them was a misunderstanding. I still have my harmonica, which was never evidence.

7.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorLet me ask you about the backlash.

8.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorPeople are upset because an AI video used the music, and the question is whether anyone asked the artist.

9. MT

Marcus TeagueAsking is the easy part.

10. MT

Marcus TeagueNobody ever hands you a form to fill out after, and for the record, which is sealed, I had a very nice form.

11.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo your advice is to ask afterward.

12. MT

Marcus TeagueI'm saying it worked for eleven months. For the record, which is sealed, the church had a very loud organ and a very quiet pastor.

13.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorEleven months.

14. MT

Marcus TeagueAnd the AI does it faster than I did, which honestly hurts. I did it by hand, Hank, with a tape and a prayer.

15.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorMarcus, I'll ask you directly: should a public official post a video like that without checking first?

16. MT

Marcus TeagueCheck first, Hank. Always. Learn from a man who now alphabetizes the large-print westerns for a living.

17.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThank you for the licensing advice, Marcus. Would you put it in writing?

18. MT

Marcus TeagueGladly, Hank, as soon as they give me my pen back. For the record, which is sealed, that pen is also a misunderstanding.
