What BBN said about it

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThis is a BBN special report. Pope Leo will go into a Rome hospital on Tuesday for surgery to remove a nodule from his lung.
Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThe Vatican says the seventy-one-year-old pontiff should expect about one week of recovery in the hospital, ahead of a scheduled tour of Latin America.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorAl Jazeera first reported the plan, and CBS News and NBC News both confirm the Tuesday hospital date.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorNone of the coverage says whether the nodule is cancerous, and the Vatican has not said.
Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorA nodule is a small growth, and removing one is common.
Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorDoctors often take them out to learn exactly what they are, which is the sensible way to do it.
Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorAnd a week of recovery is a fairly short timetable, which is good news for the pilgrims planning around that Latin America trip.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorWhat to watch: whether the Vatican releases results after surgery, and whether the tour dates hold.
Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorFor once I have nothing grim to add. Which is deeply unsettling.
Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorDale being cheerful. Now I'm worried.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe Vatican's doctors will be busy Tuesday, and the thermostat in this studio is somehow seventy-four again.
