The uncertain future of Canada's 30 rescued belugas

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe BBC reports on the uncertain future of the last thirty captive whales in Canada, all belugas, after an international rescue operation made headlines.

2.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorA rescue, Hank. Thirty belugas, a global effort, and then suddenly five of them don't make it. That's quite the plot twist.

3.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe BBC says five of them then died.

4.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorWell, that's a setback, but I suppose when you're moving whales around the world, some of them are going to surprise you with their opinions about the whole thing.

5.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorOf the thirty.

6.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorOf the thirty, yes.

7.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorI just think if you're going to rescue thirty belugas, you have to commit to the bit. You can't bail halfway through the narrative.

8.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe report says what happens to the survivors is uncertain, and that is the part with no music, no board and no timeline.

9.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThen somebody should write a better ending.

10.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorHeadlines usually come with one. Follow-ups have to earn theirs.
