How 'Taylor Swift effect' explains Caitlin Clark's WNBA popularity

What BBN said about it

1.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorYahoo Sports says a Taylor Swift effect explains why Caitlin Clark packs WNBA arenas, so here's today's question: can one superstar fill a building all by herself?

2.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentYes, and I'm living proof. I once livestreamed a sandwich and four hundred strangers showed up in the chat to judge the pickle.

3.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorChat is not a crowd, it's a mob with Wi-Fi. I say no.

4.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorA star draws a crowd, and a crowd draws a stampede, and then somebody loses a shoe.

5.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentA shoe?

6.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorI lost a loafer at a garden centre sale in my twenties, and nobody even offered me a lanyard.

7.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorI'd go to a game if somebody carried my other shoe.

8.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorI'm sorry, but as a woman who once drew a crowd of two hundred at a mall opening, I know star power is real. They came for the free cake, but they stayed for me.

9.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentThey stayed for the cake, Vera. I watched the footage, and you were basically a table.

10.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorFine, I'm switching sides. If Vera counts as a draw, then anyone does, and that is the scariest thing I've heard all week.

11.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorShow of hands, then. Who says one superstar can fill the arena? And chat, vote in the comments.

12.

Kenji Moonfield · Internet & Trends CorrespondentTwo hands. Dale's is holding a loafer.
