What BBN said about it

  1. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe Hollywood Reporter says Quentin Tarantino's West End debut, The Popinjay Cavalier, has a launch date at the Phoenix Theatre.

  2. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorIts lead, Sacha Baron Cohen, says he is beyond delighted to be losing his West End virginity. You know the West End.

  3. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorWhat do you make of that?

  4. Ignatius BoyleWell, when I went on at the Phoenix, I never felt delighted. I felt cold, mostly, because it was a fire drill.

  5. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA fire drill.

  6. Ignatius BoyleEveryone evacuated onto Charing Cross Road. I was the one holding the door, so technically I led the exit.

  7. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorTell us about your own project, Ignatius. I understand there is something new.

  8. Ignatius BoyleIt's a one-man show called Standing By. Ninety minutes of me waiting for another man to fall ill, in real time.

  9. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorAnd does the other man fall ill?

  10. Ignatius BoyleNever. That's the tension. I hold this moustache, in this box, and I wait. It has never been worn.

  11. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorLet me ask you the hard question. When you say you went on, how many times have you actually walked onto a stage?

  12. Ignatius BoyleThat's a rich question. When I went on, in spirit, many times. In Hamlet I was very present in the wings.

  13. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorIn the wings. So the answer to my question is zero.

  14. Ignatius BoyleZero in person. But in a dream I did the whole of Cats, and the reviews were extraordinary.

  15. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA dream. And who reviewed it?

  16. Ignatius BoyleMy mother. She wept. She said it was the best thing she'd ever slept through.

  17. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorLightning round. Favorite theatre? One word.

  18. Ignatius BoyleWings.

  19. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorWorst heckle?

  20. Ignatius BoyleA usher once said I was in the way. At the time I was in my seat.

  21. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorLast question, Ignatius. Plug your show, and tell us whether you will ever go on.

  22. Ignatius BoyleStanding By opens soon, and I might finally go on tonight, because the moustache is ready. Although it's a rehearsal.
