Wind-fueled wildfire breaks out in Malibu as power cut to thousands…

What BBN said about it

1.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorA wildfire in Malibu grew from half an acre to five acres in about fifteen minutes, burning medium brush and pushing south, and power is cut to thousands of homes.

2.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorWith us is County Supervisor Ignatius Moorcroft. Supervisor, what happened?

3. IM

Ignatius MoorcroftThe wind happened, Hank. A very aggressive wind, with no permit.

4. IM

Ignatius MoorcroftAnd I flagged that early, because the evacuation route everyone is using tonight was my idea.

5.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorRecords show you voted against the brush clearing budget last spring. So is the wind the only one to blame?

6. IM

Ignatius MoorcroftI voted for clearing the brush in spirit, and against the paperwork, which was written by my predecessor, the weather, and a man named Dennis.

7. IM

   Ignatius MoorcroftI flagged that early.

8.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorEarly when?

9. IM

   Ignatius MoorcroftBefore the fire.

10. IM

Ignatius MoorcroftPossibly before the brush. I hold this map, which proves the burned corner was always going to burn, and I flagged that too.

11.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSupervisor, I'll repeat it. Who is responsible for five acres in fifteen minutes? You, or the wind?

12. IM

    Ignatius MoorcroftThe wind, obviously.

13. IM

Ignatius MoorcroftI will be calling for a full inquiry into it, and I will chair it, and I will take the credit when it apologizes.

14.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThank you for flagging this interview early, Supervisor.

15. IM

    Ignatius MoorcroftI did.
