What BBN said about it

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorStill thinking about that warm phone. Anyway, José Ramírez hit a big home run for Cleveland on a pitch just above home plate.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorWith us from Cleveland is Thaddeus Grindle, commissioner of the Lake Erie Strike Zone Standards Board. Mr. Grindle, how high was that pitch?
Thaddeus GrindleGloria, a loaf of bread above the plate. A standard loaf. The board is very confident in the loaf.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA loaf.
Thaddeus GrindleSliced. Unsliced would be a scandal.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorSo the board's official measure is bread. But the pitch was just above the plate. How far is just?
Thaddeus GrindlePrecisely a bagel. Maybe a muffin. Look, the board measures with great care and a laminated placemat.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA placemat.
Thaddeus GrindleIt has the zone printed on it. Next to the syrup.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorYou said bread, then bagel, then muffin. The object keeps shrinking. But you didn't answer the question. How high?
Thaddeus GrindleA coin. A small coin. The board stands by the coin, a fairly small one.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorMr. Grindle, a bread to a coin in one answer. Is there an agreed height at all?
Thaddeus GrindleThe agreed height is whatever the placemat says, and I am sitting on the placemat, so, a pea.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThen Ramírez hit a pea, and Cleveland won on it.
