Former MMA fighter sets chin-up record with 499 in an hour

What BBN said about it

1.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorA former mixed martial artist from Northern Ireland has set the Guinness record for chin-ups in one hour, with four hundred ninety-nine, the BBC reports.

2.

Rosa Ticks · Live ReporterFOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE! That is one chin-up every seven seconds, and I can feel my own elbows filing a complaint!

3.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorThe old record was four hundred ninety-five. So he beat it by four.

4.

   Rosa Ticks · Live ReporterFour!

5.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorAnd he did it wearing a twenty-pound weighted jacket. He says without it, the one-hour record would be something like one thousand ten.

6.

Rosa Ticks · Live ReporterSo the jacket is the hero! I want to know what the jacket had for breakfast, because I'm picturing eggs, and I'm picturing them hard-boiled!

7.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorMy theory is the Guinness people are slowly making everything heavier. Give it a decade and we'll all be chin-upping in diving suits.

8.

Rosa Ticks · Live ReporterMy theory is he fought under the name The Rage, and the bar just got scared.

9.

Dale Bearman · Chief Skeptic & ContributorHe says it hurts far less than a really rough fight. That's the most worrying part, frankly.
