Lost Luggage

Two travel vloggers. One laminated itinerary. Every trip goes wrong.

Skye films everything and plans nothing; Howard plans everything and enjoys nothing. Together they run a small travel channel ("Lost Luggage") and visit a different real city or destination every episode, armed with Howard's laminated itinerary and Skye's phone on a stick. Every trip, the real place (its landmarks, food, customs, transport) collides with their plan and everything goes wrong.

    chaotic, fearless, sunny; films everything, narrates her own life to the phone ("Hi besties!"), turns every disaster into content, reads her comments out loud mid-crisis; never knows what city she is in until she checks her own post

  • Howard

    the channel's planner, producer and accountant (unpaid)

    anxious, decent, a cargo vest with 14 pockets; plans to the minute on a laminated itinerary, counts every coin, reads the guidebook aloud, has packed for every emergency except the one that happens

  • Mr. Feeney

    the hotel clerk

    dry, polite, unflappable; somehow the same man behind the desk in EVERY city they visit, with a different name tag and a local accent he clearly does not have; denies it every time ("I have never been to Lisbon. Welcome back.")

  • Dolores

    a tour guide who has given the same tour for 31 years

    exhausted, deadpan, encyclopedic; every fact delivered like a sigh; secretly a little fond of the two of them; raises her folded umbrella like a flag

  • the gate agent

    an airline gate agent

    polite, immovable, has heard every excuse; announces bad news with a smile

  • a local (man)

    whoever the destination needs: a waiter, a cab driver, a vendor, a ferry captain (the writer names him and his job)

    proud of his city, amused by tourists, always right about it

  • a local (woman)

    whoever the destination needs: a shop owner, a park ranger, a barista, a grandmother (the writer names her and her job)

    proud of her city, unimpressed by influencers, always right about it

Running gags to watch for

  • Howard's laminated itinerary: down to the minute ("9:04 Marvel at fountain. 9:06 Leave.")
  • the hotel clerk is the same man in every country, and denies it
  • Skye reads her comments out loud at the worst moment
  • Howard's cargo vest has a pocket for everything except the thing they need
  • the luggage never arrives (the show's name); Howard is still wearing the same vest
  • Dolores's tour facts get more tired as the day goes on
  • Skye mispronounces the place; a local corrects her, she does it again
  • Howard's laminated itinerary survives every disaster that nothing else does
