What BBN said on air. The facts are in the original report: What's on Netflix.
Vera BullockWhat's on Netflix has a conversation with screenwriter Dorien Goertzen, who turned Saskia Noort's novel into the Dutch series The Perfect Lie, now a global success.
Vera BullockYou've seen it?
Wilhelmina OyelaranSeen it? As I told the cast table, I watched it twice, once in Dutch and once in the original Dutch.
Vera BullockThe original Dutch.
Wilhelmina OyelaranThe purest Dutch. Anyway, the writing is stunning, and the lighthouse scene made me weep.
Vera BullockI don't recall a lighthouse, but let's move on. Tell us about your new project.
Wilhelmina OyelaranIt's called Tidewater Doctors: Second Tide. I play a surgeon who is also her own twin, and her twin is a tugboat.
Vera BullockA tugboat. And you wrote it yourself?
Wilhelmina OyelaranI contributed. As I told the cast table, and now the whole crew, I am basically a novelist who happens to act.
Vera BullockLet me be direct with you. Did you actually read Saskia Noort's novel?
Wilhelmina OyelaranWhat a beautiful question. Let me say that books are a lot like houseboats. You live in them.
Vera BullockThat is a no. I'm asking again, and I'd like a yes or a no.
Wilhelmina OyelaranFine. I saw the first four minutes on a flight, and then they served the pasta.
Vera BullockThank you. And the lighthouse?
Wilhelmina OyelaranInvented. I invented a lighthouse, Vera. It was the only way to feel close to the Dutch people.
Vera BullockLightning round. Favorite Dutch food?
Wilhelmina OyelaranCheese. Next question. Please.
Vera BullockBest lie you ever told?
Wilhelmina OyelaranThis interview, and I'm told it's going great. Plug time. Tidewater Doctors: Second Tide, Thursdays, and bring a windmill cushion.
Vera BullockWilhelmina, one last time. What is the series called?
Wilhelmina OyelaranThe Flawless Fib. Hold on. The Perfect Fib. I'm sinking, aren't I?
