What BBN said about it
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorPreviously, on BBN Investigates: a deleted livestream, a hacked verified handle, and an apology card. Gloria, you promised a confrontation.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorI did. Dr. Byte has laid out the theory. I want it said in full, on the record.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentThe theory is that a mastermind connects the shoe cabinet, the WhatsApp forwards, the hack and the huge view count. I drew it.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentIt has arrows.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorWhere do the arrows go?
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentIn a circle. Back to the start. I have now drawn four circles tonight and I am losing faith in geometry.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThen let us restate the facts plainly. Agamir Somoy reports Pori Moni pointed at the shoe cabinet and said the shoes were real.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe shoes were real.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorShe also said people had sent her the same video on WhatsApp one to one and a half years earlier.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorObserver BD adds she deleted her livestream the next morning.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentSo the video is old, the stream was deleted, and nobody orchestrated anything. The forwarding did it. Humans are the mastermind.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorAnd the big number?
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA Filipino blog reports the video passed four hundred forty million views, but does not say where it came from.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentA source it does not name. That is a rumour with a press credential.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorA post on X had a headline about it, and it showed sixty-nine point nine thousand views.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorWhich brings us to the one serious document. New Age reports five unauthorised posts, including explicit face-swapped deepfakes of Pori Moni and Mehazabien Chowdhury.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThat is the actual harm in this story. Everything else is a shoe cabinet.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorMaasranga Television said its Instagram account had been hacked. Pori Moni called the apology card of absolutely no use.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentShe is right about the card. It is a graphic.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorA graphic.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorShe says any responsible broadcaster has to own what goes out through its account, no matter how it got there.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThat is the verdict I would stand behind.
Dr. Nina Byte · Tech & Science CorrespondentAgreed. Briefly and terrifyingly.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo who started it? An old video. Who benefits? Nobody. How deep does it go? One cabinet, and I checked the shoes.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorIn a few minutes, we will ask whether salt water can help with sore wrists.
Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorOur findings are final. A hacked account, a late card, and a woman who deleted her own video and said good morning.
Gloria Vance · World News AnchorCase closed. I came for a conspiracy and found a graphic. The shoes were real. Good night.
