Lanterns Season 2 hinges on the writers' room, DC Studios co-chief…

What BBN said about it

1.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorHere is the story. Variety reports that HBO's Lanterns has not been renewed for a second season.

2.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorDC Studios co-chief Peter Safran says it depends on the writers' room coming up with a worthy successor to a great first season.

3. CN

Cassius NdiayeA worthy successor. Vera, that is the hardest thing in the world to write, and I say that as someone who has been near writers.

4.

   Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorNear them.

5. CN

Cassius NdiayeClose enough to hear them sigh. Between you and me, and the whole internet, I have had a few notes.

6.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorNotes for the writers' room of a show you are not in. Tell us about your new film instead.

7. CN

Cassius NdiayeIt is a gripping drama about a man who inherits a lighthouse and a very confusing mortgage. I play the lighthouse.

8.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorYou play the building?

9. CN

Cassius NdiayeI play the light, Vera. It is a lot of standing still while people project onto me. Very demanding.

10.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorLet me ask you directly. Have you actually watched Lanterns all the way through?

11. CN

Cassius NdiayeI have absorbed Lanterns. It lives in me, the way a good soup lives in a bowl.

12.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThat is a no. I am asking whether you watched it, and you answered with soup.

13. CN

Cassius NdiayeFine. I saw the trailer. Between you and me, and the whole internet, I fell asleep during the logo.

14.

    Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorThe logo.

15. CN

Cassius NdiayeIt was a long day, and the music was very soothing. I have never told anyone that.

16.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorNow we have a lightning round. One word each. Season two of Lanterns, yes or no?

17. CN

Cassius NdiayeYes. Unless the writers say no, and then absolutely not.

18.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorFavorite sequel of all time?

19. CN

Cassius NdiayeThe second half of any sandwich. Nothing tops it.

20.

Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorLast one. If you could give the Lanterns writers one note, what is it?

21. CN

Cassius NdiayeMake it shorter. Hush Money Lullaby opens Friday, and I would love to see the trailer for season two before then.
