What BBN said about it

1.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorIn Zurich this morning, FIFA's president Gianni Infantino apologised at the organisation's long-awaited executive board meeting, while calls for him to resign continued.

2.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorAn apology. From the head of world football. I assume he apologised to the fans first, and then to the ball.

3.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe data does not say what he apologised for in detail, so I won't guess.

4.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorAl Jazeera reports the calls for him to quit are growing.

5.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo it's a yellow card.

6.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorA yellow card is issued by someone with authority over the player, Hank. In this case the player runs the league that employs the referees.

7.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThat's a conflict of interest I can follow, and I once covered a blizzard where the plow drivers were also the ones who closed the roads.

8.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorI have watched governments fall in less time than a board meeting takes to find the right room.

9.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThese people managed to hold this one, and that counts as progress.

10.

    Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorProgress.

11.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorFor now, the apology stands, the president stays, and the people calling for his exit are still waiting for a second item on the agenda.

12.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo the apology went to extra time, and the man who keeps the whistle is the one being asked to leave the pitch.

13.

Gloria Vance · World News AnchorFinal score, Hank: nothing to nothing, with the whistle still in his pocket.
