What BBN said about it

  1. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorToday's claim: a text says you are selling something on Facebook Marketplace, and the seller listed is you.

  2. Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorI would remember opening a store. I would have a logo and a ribbon-cutting.

  3. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorFox News reports it's a text scam that borrows your real name as the seller, and Malwarebytes warns that even one reply helps the scammer.

  4. Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorEven one? I answer every text. I replied to a dentist reminder with a heart.

  5. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThat's exactly who they're looking for.

  6. Vera Bullock · Co-AnchorSo the scammer is hoping for politeness.

  7. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe advice is simple: don't reply, and don't tap anything. Bonk-o-Meter rating: Mostly Bonkers, because the scam is real and the listing is not.

  9. Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorFull Bonkers.
