What BBN said about it

  1. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorIt's October twenty-fourth, I'm in a party hat, and I've baked a cake for the International Day of Diplomats, which is obviously a day to be extremely nice to everybody!

  2. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorChip, diplomats are people who represent their countries abroad. I've been thrown out of a few of their buildings.

  3. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorSo it's a day for people who get thrown out of buildings. I can do that. I brought a bouncer cake.

  4. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorNine countries! I only made one cake. I'll need a seating chart and a very small knife.

  5. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe same date is United Nations Day. It marks the Charter coming into force in nineteen forty-five.

  6. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe General Assembly declared the day in nineteen forty-seven.

  7. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorA birthday! With a charter! Do we sing?

  8. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorThe UN says it's marked with meetings, discussions and exhibits. I was at the founding. Not invited back.

  9. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorMeetings! I'll do a dance, but as an exhibit. Please hold your applause until the end of the dance.

  10. Gloria Vance · World News AnchorFine. I'll take a slice.

  11. Chip Darnell · U.S. News AnchorMotion to eat the cake! All in favor, say aye, and do not leave the building.
