What BBN said about it

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorThe Texas Senate race between Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton is tight, and the state Democratic chair, Kendall Scudder, spoke to CBS News about it this morning.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorJoining us from Waco is Marguerite Oyelaran, who owns Lone Pecan Feed and Hardware. Marguerite, how does a tight race look from your counter?
Marguerite OyelaranIt looks like mail, Hank.
Marguerite OyelaranI get eleven pieces a day for a man named Occupant, and the store cat has been pre-approved for two credit cards.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorSo it is tight enough that the cat is being courted. Has anyone from either campaign actually come into the store?
Marguerite OyelaranA pollster came in Friday and bought one bag of birdseed. Then another one came Saturday and bought one bag of birdseed.
Marguerite OyelaranI think they share a car.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorOne bag each. Is that where the race stands?
Marguerite OyelaranHonestly, my birdseed numbers are more honest than anything on cable.
Marguerite OyelaranHalf the town buys sunflower, half buys millet, and nobody will say which is which. I'm not saying who, but the sunflower people drive trucks.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorYou said you were undecided when we booked you. Is that still true?
Marguerite OyelaranCompletely. I'm not saying who, but I do keep a coffee can of flyers by the stove, and I only burn one side's.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorWhich side's?
Marguerite OyelaranThe ones that burn fastest. Look, I just want the mail to stop, and for whoever wins to remember the cat did not endorse anybody.

Hank Ledger · Lead AnchorLet me ask you plainly, Marguerite. Who are you voting for?
Marguerite OyelaranI'm not saying who. But you bought a yard sign from me at nine this morning, Hank, and I know what color it was.
